Euscorpius sicanus  C.L.Koch, 1837
Taxonomical Classification:  Animalia / Arthropoda / Arachnida / Scorpiones / Euscorpiidae
Scorpion     Skorpjun
Further Information:
The only native scorpion species in the Maltese Islands, this relatively small arachnid (about 50mm in length) poses no threat to humans; its venom is very mild and its stinger is unlikely to penetrate skin easily. Hunting small arthropods in leaf litter during hours of darkness, the scorpion hides under stones and logs during the day. Occasionally the scorpion is found in houses, usually in cellars or other dark, humid places.
